Backflow Prevention Test

As of January 1, 2018, the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) requires that the Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner (WRC) office only accept backflow prevention assembly tests performed and signed by an American Society of Sanitary Engineering (ASSE) Standard 5110 certified tester. Please note that you are responsible to hire and pay for any services performed.

The WRC neither endorses nor recommends individual testers. However, they suggest you contact several firms for price quotes, comparisons and to verify ASSE certifications are valid and current prior to making your selection. If you require further assistance:

Water Works Solutions, LLC

Water Works Solutions, LLC of Clarkston is performing certified backflow testing in our neighborhood.  Following are key points regarding their scheduling and testing process:

 

  • You do not need to be home to have the backflow test performed. However, water to the sprinkler system must be on (sprinklers don’t need to be running in the lawn, just the water turned on to the system so there is water pressure at the vacuum breaker).
  • Leave 2 copies total (the original and 1 copy) of the form you received from the WRC and a check for $75 per device payable to Water Works Solutions in a zip-top bag under the mat at your front door the night before your test date.
  • Water Works will leave a completed test form under the mat for your records and will e-mail the other form to the WRC.
  • To schedule your test date, e-mail WWSPLUMBING@AOL.COM or complete the Contact Form on their website at wwsplumbing.com. Include your name, address, phone number, and confirmation the water is/will be on to your sprinkler system. Please mention Backflow Testing in Hunt Club Subdivision in the subject line.
  • You will receive an e-mail within 24 hours confirming your test date. If you do not receive a response within 24 hours, please check your SPAM folder.
  • The time it takes to perform each test can vary greatly, so they are not able to provide specific appointment times.
  • You will receive a reminder text the day before your test.
